Business Development For Memoir Professional – 5 Questions to Accelerate Your Financial Success
When you set yourself up to be in memory business, you intended to make money and enjoy yourself in the process. Has this dream become a reality? Here are 5 questions to ask yourself:
1. Is there a gap between what you hoped to achieve and what you have attained? If your goal was a realistic income figure, earning any less than that can jeopardize your future in business. You cannot long remain active if your business is not subsidizing your life.
2. What factors are missing for you to achieve the success you dream of? Many people blame factors outside of themselves, but incredibly they do not ask themselves how they can change. Attitudes can be mellowed, skills learned, networking developed.
3. Have you been able to implement the many business ideas you read about or hear and put them into proactive? Many professionals will say they are too hurried and do not have the time to implement new strategies. This is counterproductive. There is a story of a lumberjack who was working furiously to fell a tree when it was pointed out to him that he ought to sharpen his axe. His response? “I don’t have the time to sharpen my axe. Can’t you see how much I have left to do?”
4.What would a successful business look like for you? What sort of income, products would it have to have? Who would your ideal clients be? How much time would you have to invest daily, weekly, monthly, yearly?
5. What would you still have to do to create this business? What products would you have to develop? Which alliances would you have to form? Which of your attitudes would you have to alter?
Developing a successful business requires that you first envision it and then work regularly and efficiently at making that vision become reality. It is not enough to be a good writer to be successful as a memoir professional. You must also be a good business person.
